Student capacity building

New River works with young people to grow their capacities to effect positive change in their own lives and in the lives of others. Using our background in positive psychology, strengths-based thinking, education and counselling; we curate learning experiences that explore resilience, leadership, mental well being and decision making.

Capacity Building

We do all this from a deep belief that young people are experts in their own lives, and are capable of living out their values and purposes in ways that enhance their own lives and the communities in which they live.

We offer:

Growing Capacity: A Two Year Homegroup Program

This two year program is designed for homeroom / pastoral care teachers to implement in their classrooms. With lesson outlines, digital content and written materials, this program consists of 8 eight-week terms worth of content to explore real themes from students’ lived experience. As well as growing the capacity of your young people, this program can be modified to meet Stage 3 and 4 outcomes of the NSW Board of Studies PDHPE curriculum.

Rethinking Leadership Playshops:

Half or full day workshop experiences for student leadership teams, these days are full of experiential activities, as well as time to reflect individually and as a team. These workshops area ideal for a new team, or for deepening relationships and purpose in a team that is already working well together.

Bespoke Experience Development: Partnering with You

Like every young person, every school and youth programme is different. We love partnering with passionate people to explore what may grow the capacity of the young people in their context. Whether it’s developing curricula or lesson content, a program for a camp or event, a series of workshops or a whole school approach to leadership, we love bringing our experience and knowledge together with the experts in the local context: You!
