Experience: Founder of New River Peter is a writer, researcher, partnership-builder, innovator and experience-based educator. He was founding director of NCLS Research, and is an honorary research fellow of the School of Psychology and Social Science at Edith Cowan University. He has been involved in research into personal and community wellbeing, values, spirituality, social capital, community development as well as patterns of effective leadership and the importance of working with our strengths. He has written a range of publications including “Building Stronger Communities” and “Lead with your Strengths“. He has spent a lifetime synthesising learning from different disciplines and ways of thinking. Peter has carried out extensive research into effective and sustainable leadership drawing on large scale survey research, insights from a range of leadership theorists, positive psychology, asset-based planning, community development and personal development. It is on this work that the theoretical foundations of New River are based.

Interests: An avid walker in wilderness Tasmania and traveller in remote desert areas, Peter is concerned about the environment and social justice, and has always loved being in small, committed teams.
Core purposes: Peter is concerned to help people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the leadership strengths they bring and to make a positive and sustainable difference wherever they are. Also assisting organisations to become more effective in engaging change, navigating complexity and implementing strengths-based capacity building for staff.
Experience: Naomi has been associated with New River since 2008, participating in the Rethinking Leadership course and then later coming on board as a technology assistant, facilitator and into her current role. Naomi has worked with social welfare agencies, schools, executives and individuals to explore leadership and cultural change. Specialties: Listening deeply to organisational story, encouraging individuals, workshop facilitation, fostering positivity and building partnerships.

Sue Kaldor | Director. Facilitator Experience: Community development, counselling in mental health and relationships, consulting with large and small organisations for problem solving and growing leadership capacity, Leadership Intensives for people from many different backgrounds.
Specialties: Workshop facilitation, empowering groups and individuals to find hope and to grow their capacity to work together. Counselling and coaching.

Paula Taylor | Facilitator Experience: Paula is a qualified professional with a diverse wealth of experience combining corporate management, consulting, recruitment, training and small business management from which to draw. Originally trained as a teacher, Paula spent 12 years working in corporate HR management roles. She then worked as a consultant in marketing, recruitment and training before taking on the running of her own small importing business. In the last 5 years Paula has pursued her passion for people and to help them help themselves. Facilitating with New River, alongside coaching individuals allows her to see more people people happier, more empowered, more resilient and energised.

Ben Weir | Facilitator Experience: Ben has been involved with New River since its inception, helping groups, students, teachers and schools explore reflective learning that grows and develops both individuals and the larger group. Ben is a qualified counsellor and qualified teacher and enjoys bringing these two worlds of knowledge and practice together
Specialities: Curating learning experiences, asking questions that ignite reflection, working with schools (students and teachers) integrating different streams of knowledge and practice, teaching any body to do a handstand Qualifications: B. Sophie Paterson | Facilitator Experience: Sophie is one of our newest additions, joining our schools team having worked in NSW public schools as a teacher, leader, mentor and curriculum coordinator. Sophie has a passion for educational leadership and 21st century pedagogy and is accredited as a Lead teacher with the NSW BOSTES. Sophie brings her experience to our schools team, who partner with students, staff, school executive and community members to explore leadership and change in a school context.
Specialties: Exploring system change, coaching, creating positive teams, AITSL teaching and principal standards.
Interests: When she isn’t running with her dog or planning her next bushwalk, Sophie can be found playing trivia at the pub and creating edible gluten free meals.

Experience: Stephen has extensive experience in the human resources field including, training design, delivery and evaluation, facilitation, complex project management, leadership capability development and change management. As a keen researcher and learner he continues to bring new insights into the challenges of connecting strategic and operational business needs with people capability and learning.
Stephen has project managed, designed and delivered large-scale integrated leadership capability development programs including business coaching, accelerated learning workshops, action learning and facilitated cultural immersion experiences.
